New swimming pool at M.A Stadium, out of bounds for youth

Jammu Feb18: It was supposed to provide platform for young swimmers of the Jammu and Kashmir, but the mega swimming pool, inaugurated last year near M.A Stadium is still locked.  Thanks to the apathetic administration and management, most of the water lovers have to return back dejected, whenever they approach the management for registration, so that they can use the pool.  Sources said that It is pertinent to mention here that the only Swimming Pool in the M A Stadium is closed since last year, is under construction and has to become functional this year. The swimming season of the state is between May to September and still there is no new swimming pool in the M.A Stadium.  “If the authorities would open the swimming pool for full session, it will do a world of good for us as we could utilise our maximum time for the crucial practice ahead of important competitions”, said a budding swimmer.  The parents of the swimmers on the other hand are also in favour of the opening of swimming pool for full year. “Not everyone can avail the benefits of taking admission in the private clubs for swimming practice because of exorbitant fees charged by such clubs”, maintained one of the parents.  The authorities are busy in renovation work of the old swimming pool as its filtration plant will be changed to make it available for the swimmers who are eagerly waiting for the pool.  Now it the question of big concern that the swimmers having no place for practice, how could get the medals for the Sate in competitions of national level and with this kind of facilities expecting medal from them is itself a shame for the authorities.  “What to talk of participating in nationals, even the conduct of domestic level competitions is not a regular feature which is a matter of great concern,” stressed another budding swimmers.
